VII. Symbiosis in the economy of Northeast Asia

The Northeast Asian countries -- China, the DPRK, Japan, ROK, Mongolia, and Russia -- cover nearly 29 million square kilometers in total with a total population of 1.7 billion. Their GDP and foreign exchange reserves account for about one-fifth and more than 50 percent of the world’s total.

These countries all differ in industrial structure but have a higher level of symbiosis in both their economies and natures, in their history, culture and customs, which means immense potential for future development, hence the China-Japan-ROK Free Trade Area, which had its official opening in November 2012.

The China-Northeast Asia Expo is the world’s only expo to bring together these six countries and connect them with the world, and Jilin province sits exactly in the center of the region.
